Kristina Holzweiss, is a school library media specialist at Bay Shore Middle School, as well as a presenter, author, and professional developer. She earned her MA in English from CUNY Queens College, her MLS from Long Island University – C.W. Post, and her Advanced Certificate in in Educational Technology from SUNY Stony Brook. Kristina has created a Genius Hour program in her school library and organized SLIME – Students of Long Island Maker Expo. Kristina also moderates a Voxer group for educators interested in bringing makerspaces and Genius Hour into their libraries and classrooms.
In 2015, adding to her awards from NYSCATE and the Long Island Technology Summit, Kristina was named the School Librarian of the Year by School Library Journal and Scholastic. To get in on all of Kristina’s fun, check out her blog!

Kristina’s enthusiasm and hands-on approach to teaching and learning is changing education in the classroom and reinventing the role of the librarian! Her vision to create a passion and project based learning environment for all students motivates her exploration of edtech and led her to creative world of buncee! Throughout her buncee-ing adventure, Kristina has collaborated with the buncee team to produce events like SLIME and her Genius Hour programs! Additionally, as a leader in education, Kristina is invited to speak at many conferences and events, at which she eagerly shares her love for buncee.
