I’m a 1st grade teacher at Laurel Park Elementary School in Apex, NC. I have been teaching in elementary education for 15 years and have taught many different grades. I’m AIG certified and have a Master’s Degree in Reading. I’m originally from Ohio, where I attended Bowling Green State University for both my undergraduate and graduate work. I spent 3 years cheering on my Falcons as a varsity cheerleader at BGSU and was privileged to be an assistant cheerleading coach during graduate school.
I enjoy seeing children learn, explore, create, and problem solve. I am a big fan of STEAM in education, genius hour, makerspace, innovation, learning from failures and creator of #TootlingTuesday. I want to prepare my students for the future and am excited to connect them to the world through Buncee Buddies, Seesaw student blogs, and other global opportunities. I desire for students to share the positive in education through these media by “tootling” on each other. I believe that all children can learn and be successful in life with belief, dedication, and persistence.

PROUDEST MOMENT OF YOUR EDUCATION CAREER:
I have many proud moments as an educator. Every day when my students take risks in their learning, display their knowledge through their own choice and voice, power through something tricky and learn from their mistakes, and make connections across content areas within projects, I feel privileged to share a room with them. A few of my proudest moment this past year:
1) Students created their own video on how to use Seesaw to share with the staff at our in-school professional development
2) Students constructed a 3-D city and used a green screen to produce videos about each building/job and its importance in the city. They described how people might better the environment by adding needed safety and health features, and conserving natural resources.
3) Students created Buncee nonfiction narratives about how to care for local wildlife.
The achievements and connections students make with technology are amazing.
WHY DID YOU WANT TO BECOME A BUNCEE AMBASSADOR?
I want to be a Buncee Ambassador because Buncee gives me and my students a voice in our learning and teaching. It provides fun and unique ways to express our understanding, views, and creativity. The Buncee Team truly values education and what educators and students do.
