Ambassador Larry Zuares

larryABOUT AMBASSADOR LARRY ZUARES:

Larry is a connected educator with a positive digital footprint. He is an educator, instructional coach and host of the #EdTechTherapy Chat. Larry sums up his roles and passion in his following words:

I am an educational technology coach in southern New Jersey, husband to a veteran educator, and father to two of the greatest kids on the planet. My passions include technology, personal growth, and cultivating a climate of transformational teaching and learning excellence.

Here, Larry shares his experience in facilitating a professional development session on using Buncee in the classroom:

I recently worked with several middle school science teachers, who were planning a project where students were to choose a scientist and/or species and create several Snapchat-style “snaps” or images. I showed them Buncee, which would allow students to set a background and apply different “stickers”. Since the students were using iPads, they could also write on the screen, a major Snapchat feature. The teachers were so excited to have a direction in which to take their concept.

PROUDEST MOMENT OF YOUR EDUCATION CAREER:

I am a firm believer in promoting learners as creators and innovators and I model these skills by creating my own instructional videos. One day, a fifth-grade student announced he had wanted to find out how to create and publish videos like mine to YouTube. Over the previous weekend, he had filmed and created his very own YouTube channel of skateboarding tricks and how-to videos. I immediately broke from my daily lesson plan (already in progress) and pulled up his channel on the projector for a private viewing party. I could not tell who was more proud, that day — the student or me.

WHY DID YOU WANT TO BECOME A BUNCEE AMBASSADOR?

I enjoy using and promoting tools which are user-friendly, but have tremendous potential to transform the learning environment. Buncee is a great example of one of those tools — easy enough for anyone to use, but powerful enough to engage, entertain, and communicate any concept to the world. A true example of technology “getting out of the way”.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE BUNCEES?
