Global Maker Day 2019

Global Maker Day

Here at Buncee, we are truly inspired by the creativity we’ve seen in our awesome community. We have witnessed a massive emergence of exceptional learning approaches in classrooms all around the world. We’ve also noticed that some of the most amazing creations have come about as a result of global collaboration. Author and educator Jamie Donally wanted to foster collaboration, communication, and creativity in students across the globe, so she formed a team of enthusiastic educators, and together, they created Global Maker Day. Global Maker Day is an entire day dedicated to connecting classrooms around the globe in an effort to encourage creative collaboration. This event consists of challenges that encourage creativity, teamwork, and MAKING!

This year marks the fifth anniversary since Global Maker Day was first celebrated, and this year’s event will be will be held on Tuesday, October 29th, from 9 A.M to 5 P.M EST. Global Maker Day will consist of challenges that range from creating self-portraits with nearby objects, to recreating historical figures using various media! The challenges are posted every 30 minutes and are constructed to inspire classrooms to participate in creating something unique. Be sure to share your creations on Twitter and use the hashtag #GlobalMakerDay to showcase what you and your students have created. The day will be filled with knowledge, creation and most importantly, FUN!

We admire the tireless efforts of Jamie Donally in crafting such an amazing event and learning initiative! Make sure to mark your calendars and begin to brainstorm ideas with your classroom!
